Mr. Wayne Sturge served as a Temporary Government Senator during the 10th Republican Parliament. In the 12th Republican Parliament, Mr. Sturge served as an Opposition Senator. He was appointed to serve as Minister of Defence in the 13th Republican Parliament, having won the seat for Toco/Sangre Grande.Mr. Sturge is a seasoned attorney-at-law with over 26 years of experience in criminal defense. Known for his sharp legal mind and fearless courtroom advocacy, he has been involved in numerous high-profile cases and has mentored a new generation of criminal law practitioners.His broader public service record includes roles as Chairman of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, member of the National Carnival Commission, and member of the Law Reform Commission. Through these appointments, he contributed meaningfully to victims’ support programs, cultural governance, and legal policy development.
