Ms. Vanadana Mohit first entered Parliament as the elected Member for Chaguanas East in the 12th Republican Parliament. She was re-elected to serve Chaguanas East in the 13th Republican Parliament and appointed as Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services.

Ms. Mohit's journey in public service began at just 22 years old, when she was elected Councillor for Cunupia in 2013. She went on to serve two consecutive terms in local government before making history in 2019 as the youngest Mayor of Chaguanas at age 28.

An alumna of Saraswati Girls’ Hindu College, where she was valedictorian, Ms. Mohit began her tertiary studies at just 16 years old. She holds an Associate Degree in Journalism and Public Relations and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from COSTAATT, followed by a Master’s degree in Mass Communication, which she earned by age 24.
