Ms. Michelle Benjamin was re-elected as the Member for Moruga/Tableland in the 13th Republican Parliament and assigned to the portfolio of Minister of Culture and Community. She was first was elected to the House of Representatives in the 12th Republican Parliament.

Ms. Benjamin previously served two terms as councillor for Hindustan / St. Mary’s, and Chairwoman of the Moruga/Tableland Constituency Executive.

Ms. Benjamin is an active member of the Baptist Community and is affiliated with a number of non-governmental organisations and youth groups.

She was raised and educated in the Moruga/Tableland area, having attended the Cowen Hamilton Secondary and Southern Community College. She went on to obtain a Diploma in Computer Studies from the School of Accounting and Management, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Management and Biology from The University of the West Indies.
