Mr. Ernesto Kesar was elected to the House of Representatives, as the Member for Point Fortin in April of 2025 and appointed to serve as Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries.

Mr. Kesar is a veteran labour leader, bringing decades of experience in the energy sector and trade union movement. He currently serves as an Executive Vice-President of the Oilfield Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU), one of the most influential labour organizations in Trinidad and Tobago. Kesar previously led the OWTU’s Trinmar branch in south Trinidad, where he played a pivotal role in defending the rights and livelihoods of oilfield workers.

Throughout his career, Mr. Kesar has been a tireless advocate for the working class—standing up for retrenched energy-sector employees, challenging unjust practices, and holding public officials accountable on labour and economic issues. With deep roots in the energy industry and a strong connection to grassroots struggles, Mr. Kesar is widely respected for his integrity and his commitment to job creation, fair wages, and community advancement.
