Mr. Devesh Maharaj was elected to the House of Representatives as the Member for Aranguez/St. Joseph in the 13th Republican Parliament in April of 2025. He was appointed to serve as the Minister of Justice and Minister in the Ministry of the Attorney General.

Mr. Maharaj is an attorney at law, who has had his own law practice, Devesh Maharaj and Associates, since 1995. He pursued his tertiary education in Law at the University of West Indies, attending both St. Augustine and Cave Hill campuses, and the Hugh Wooding Law School. He is also a past student of Lochmaben RC School, Cedros, San Fernando Boys RC, and Presentation College, San Fernando.

Mr. Maharaj served as an advisor to President Dr. Louis Nurse of the Trinidad and Tobago 1st Capital Committee, based in his constituency in St. Joseph. He has also been the chairman of the International Love All Serve All Initiative and advisor to the Casablanca Steel Orchestra.

Mr. Maharaj has also been involved in the distribution of meals to homeless persons in Port- of -Spain and environs for several years.
