Mr. Clyde Elder was elected to the House of Representatives, as the Member for La Brea in April of 2025, and assigned the portfolio of Minister in the Ministry of Public Utilities.

Mr. Elder is a seasoned trade unionist and respected community advocate. He previously served as Secretary General of the Communications Workers’ Union (CWU), where he championed the rights of telecommunications and postal workers across Trinidad and Tobago. Mr. Elder has also collaborated with the Oilfield Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) through joint labour initiatives and was a former member of the labour-based Movement for Social Justice (MSJ). He has built a reputation for integrity, resilience, and principled leadership. His decades-long commitment to social justice, job security, and equitable development now form the cornerstone of his tenure in La Brea.
