Dr. Lackram Bodoe first entered Parliament as the elected Member for Fyzabad in the 11th Republican Parliament. He was re-elected to serve the constituents of Fyzabad in the 12th Republican Parliament. In the 13th Republican Parliament, Dr. Bodoe was elected Member for Oropouche West and assigned the portfolio of Minister of Health.Born and raised in Avocat Village, Dr. Bodoe specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Jamaica and the United Kingdom. He is a medical practitioner who practiced at the San Fernando General Hospital for twenty (20) years.Dr. Bodoe was chairman of the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) from October 2010 – August 2015. In that position he oversaw the state of the art San Fernando Teaching Hospital and the Couva Children’s Hospital, the opening of new and upgrading existing health centres, and extended hours at health centres, among many other achievements.
