Mr. Kennedy Swaratsingh was appointed a Senator and Minister of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development in the 13th Republican Parliament on May 3, 2025.

Mr. Swaratsingh first entered Parliament in December 2007 as the elected Member for St. Joseph. Following the General Election of November 2007, Mr. Swaratsingh was appointed Minister of Public Administration.
